Maryland Bobcats FC Acquires Local Amateur Club Steel Pulse FC

BOYDS, MD - Maryland Bobcats FC (MBFC) has acquired the rights to Baltimore-area amateur club Steel Pulse Football Club. Having previously played in the Maryland Major Soccer League, Eastern Premier Soccer League, NISA Nation, NISA Independent Cup and the Maryland Super Soccer League, Steel Pulse now joins forces with MBFC to expand the reach of soccer in the state of Maryland.

The addition will see both clubs come together under the Maryland Bobcats FC system while ensuring any player who possesses the ability to play at the professional level is able to achieve that goal within the sport.

“This acquisition results in opportunities for growth and exposure for our players. Steel Pulse FC is honored to be associated with a reputable and established organization which is the only professional outdoor soccer club in Maryland.” said Steel Pulse FC Chief Operating Officer, Holly Wolfe.

Steel Pulse FC was founded in 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland. The club began playing in the Maryland Major Soccer League and made history by being the first team to win the Spring and Fall seasons (MMSL, est. 1965), back-to-back, in 2019.

Following 2019, the club entered into the Eastern Premier Soccer League Mid-Atlantic region for the 2021 season. Steel Pulse FC went on to win their region and become the 2021 season Mid-Atlantic champions.

In Fall 2021, Steel Pulse FC also won the inaugural season of the Maryland Super Soccer League.

Steel Pulse are affiliated with the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) as a member of NISA Nation, the Path-to-Pro pyramid established by the professional third division soccer league. Steel Pulse have also competed in the NISA Independent Cup since 2021 having previously faced off against Maryland Bobcats FC in the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Final and finishing third in the 2022 Northeastern region.

“This is another step in the right direction to continue to bring well run organizations under the Bobcats family. Our goal has always been to bring everyone together to continue to build an inclusive organization that is a true representation of our community. With this acquisition, we are bringing in one of the best amateur clubs within the DMV.” said Maryland Bobcats FC President, Jide Saba.
