Maryland Bobcats FC to Visit Chattanooga FC in October

Silver Spring, MD (September 18th, 2020) - As the club continues to work to make an exciting, competitive Fall Friendly schedule, we are happy to announce that on Saturday, October 24th, we will be making the trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee to play Chattanooga FC at Finley Stadium.

“It's always good for the club to test it's talent against great clubs like Chattanooga” said Jide Saba, President, Maryland Bobcats FC. “The boys are really excited and it will give the organization a real look into it's squad and to see what areas we can continue to improve on."

Founded in 2009, Chattanooga FC is one of the gold standards of clubs in the United States, building their club up the past 11 years to play professionally in the National Independent Soccer League (NISA) in 2020. In their successful history, Chattanooga FC have one National Championship (USASA Amateur National Champions, winning the Hank Steinbrecher Cup), four NPSL National Finals appearances, three NPSL Regional Championships, seven NPSL Conference Titles, and 10 seasons with winning records, and just finished top of the table in the NISA Fall 2020 Regular Season table.

Bobcats Head Coach Phil Nana is excited for the challenge and to see where the squad is at both physically and tactically. "This is exciting stuff for our coaching staff and players alike. We are humbled to have been invited to play in such a high profile friendly. It doesn't get any better than getting a chance to test ourselves against some of the best in NISA."

Assistant Coach Ben Aryeetey echoed the Head Coach's statements, saying "It is a very exciting game for the club as it will be a good way to measure our growth as a team and club. We are humbled by the invitation and ready to test our squad."

The boys will play CFC in their home field, Finley Stadium, which holds an amateur record attendance of 18,228. While the game will be played in front of fans, it will be in front of a greatly reduced capacity and CFC are adhering to strict protocols to ensure the match can be enjoyed in person as safely as possible. It will be a great test of the boys, and we're looking forward to kicking off against a model club in the US while fine tuning our roster getting ready for a big 2021.
