March 26, 2020 - Silver Spring, MD - Due to the current global health crisis, the NPSL Board of Directors unanimously decided yesterday to cancel the 2020 NPSL season. While it is disappointing as we were ready to kick off our inaugural NPSL season, we believe it is the right and responsible decision for the league as a whole.
In the past two weeks, we have seen first-hand the effect this pandemic is having on local businesses in Montgomery County, Maryland, and beyond. We stand with our partners and friends in Maryland and ask that you continue to do whatever you can to support them now and especially when it is safe for life to return to normal.
If the coronavirus recedes in the coming months and local, state, and federal authorities allow for the rolling back of social distancing restrictions, we will do everything we can to schedule high-quality friendly matches, hopefully get some UPSL games in, and other opportunities for us to play and support our club and community.
Soccer is what we are most passionate about but the well-being of our community is the most important. Please continue to practice appropriate social distancing measures, good hygiene, and support local businesses such as restaurants and breweries by purchasing meals and drinks for take-out. We will continue to provide information on how you can help your local community during this crisis
We will continue to update schedules and games once things become more clear. Thank you, as always, for your support, and we're looking forward to getting on the field soon.
